About Mark
Mark is a Houston native with a career built on advocacy, grit, and results. At South Texas College of Law, he made his mark as a standout on varsity moot court and mock trial teams. His advocacy record speaks for itself. He won the ABA National Championship in 2001 after arguing before members of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. He also captured titles at the TYLA State Moot Court competition and the William and Mary Moot Court tournament. His success helped cement South Texas College of Law’s reputation as a national powerhouse in advocacy.
After law school, Mark joined Thompson Knight LLP, now Holland and Knight, one of Texas oldest and largest law firms. For the last 18 years, he has built and maintained a successful solo civil litigation practice. His work includes serving on the steering committee for Hurricane Ike claims, where he represented hundreds of homeowners and businesses who were shortchanged by their insurers.
Mark’s litigation practice focuses on high stakes and complex civil litigation in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels, as well as arbitration forums. He represents individuals and businesses in commercial disputes, banking & collections, employment law & discrimination cases, bad faith insurance matters, contract claims, personal injury, construction litigation, business torts, fraud, real estate conflicts, deceptive trade practices, condemnation, negligence, professional liability, partnership and shareholder disputes, and trademark and copyright infringement.
He also is skilled in various transactional matters including purchase and sale agreements, contract negotiation, wills and trusts, and business and partnership formation.
Mark is a licensed Mediator with more than two decades of mediation experience. Having participated in hundreds of mediations, Mark understands every stage of litigation and knows how to guide even the most difficult disputes toward resolution. His no-nonsense practical approach has proven effective in dispute resolution.
Mark is licensed in all Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
He has twice been named a Rising Star in the Texas Monthly Super Lawyers Edition.
He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, and the Houston Bar Association.
